Concrete Block Types Include 'Dense,' 'Lightweight,' and 'Aerated.

Block of dense aggregate

Dense aggregate blocks, which have been in use since the 1940s, are the workhorse of the building industry. They are an ideal and cost-effective solution for all forms of load-bearing walls due to their unique durability and strength. Cement, sand, and aggregates are used to make dense aggregate concrete blocks.


Aggregate block of lightweight


Lightweight blocks are used in both internal and external walls where loading is limited, as well as as infill blocks in beam and block flooring. They are produced in greater volume but are less powerful than dense blocks. The key advantage they have over dense aggregate blocks is a combination of better insulating properties and a lower unit weight. Since the lighter block is easier to handle and produces larger units, it saves time and money. Units of the same size as other types of blocks.


Aerated concrete


They are the lightest of the Production pallet for concrete blocks. Aerated blocks are unique in that they can serve as both a structural and an insulation component. Aerated blocks can perform a similar range of functions as dense and lightweight blocks, but they are limited to structural applications in low-rise construction and partitions, as well as a portion of curtain walling in higher buildings. Cement, lime, sand, pulverized fuel ash (PFA), and water are used to make the bricks. To make a slurry, PFA is combined with sand and water. The mixture is then heated and combined with cement, lime, and a small amount of aluminum sulphate powder. The aluminum reacts with the lime to produce hydrogen bubbles. The hydrogen diffuses and is replaced by air as the mixture expands into a "cake."
